Every Cigar You Forget
Is a Case Gone Cold.

You've smoked hundreds of cigars. How many can you actually recall? The blend, the draw, the way the cedar hit in the second third? The one that knocked you flat and the one that surprised you?

Memory is a bad detective. Paper doesn't forget.

The Detective's Case File gives every cigar you smoke a permanent record — scored, noted, filed, and yours. Pull up any case, any time. Know exactly what you liked, what you didn't, and what to smoke next.

The Knockout Meter

The Only Journal That Asks
How Hard She Hit You.

Every other journal asks how the cigar tasted. We ask something the industry has been ignoring for years:

How hard did the nicotine hit you?

A cigar can be full-flavored and mild in strength. Another can taste smooth and put you on the floor. These are not the same thing — but almost every rating system treats them as one.

The Knockout Meter separates them. Six levels. Measured by you. Recorded forever.

"Cigar companies have been asking for this data for years. Real smokers have never had a way to record it. Until now."

— Detective Watson

From the Desk of Detective Watson

Every detective keeps a record.

Not because the Bureau requires it. Because the smoke doesn't lie — but memory does.

I've been investigating cigars for thirty years. Davidoff-certified. Two lounges. More cases than I can count. And I'll tell you what I've learned: the difference between a good smoke and a great one isn't the cigar. It's whether you were paying attention.

Other journals ask you what you tasted. The Case File asks you what she revealed.

There's a difference. A good detective knows it.

I built this because I needed it. And because every serious smoker deserves one — not a star rating, not a checkbox, but a real record of every dame worth investigating.

The Bandolero

She walked in dark and wrapped tight — a Maduro beauty with gold trim and a story she wasn't giving up easy. Coffee, leather, and something earthy underneath. The kind of dame that fills the room and makes you forget what you came in for.

Frequently Filed Inquiries

Questions from The Bureau

What exactly is The Detective's Case File?
It's a five-step cigar investigation journal. You smoke the cigar, we give you a framework to record everything — construction, flavor, strength effect, pairings, and your final verdict. Think less "rating app" and more "detective filing a case."
Is it really free?
The first 300 Founding Detectives get free access. No credit card required. No strings. The Agency is building its intelligence network — your case files are the data. We only ask that you investigate honestly.
Do I need to download an app?
No. The Detective's Case File is a web app. Open it on any phone or computer — no app store, no installation, no storage used on your device. It works in Safari, Chrome, anywhere.
What's the Knockout Meter?
It's how we track nicotine effect — separate from flavor. A cigar can taste full and rich but hit mild. Another can taste smooth and put you on the floor. Most journals don't separate these. We do. Six levels. Your honest rating. This is the data the industry doesn't have.
What is the Dame of the Month?
Every month, The Agency opens a featured investigation — a specific cigar, a character, a 30-day case. We link you directly to buy it. You smoke it, file your investigation, and earn a Bureau Commendation. The case closes at month end. Don't let it go cold.
Can I use it at the lounge?
That's exactly where it belongs. Open it on your phone while you smoke. Five steps, one cigar, one case filed before you stub it out. Your filing cabinet travels with you.
Can I save my case files and come back to them?
Yes. Accounts are live. Log in and every case you file is saved permanently to your profile. Your cabinet is always there when you come back.
Can I add a photo of the cigar band?
Yes. The Detective's Case File lets you photograph the cigar band directly in the app — giving you a visual record alongside your investigation notes. Every case file can have its own evidence photo.
What happens to my data?
Your case files belong to you. We may use aggregated, anonymous data to provide cigar industry insights — this is how we keep the app free and valuable. We never sell individual user data. The Agency protects its detectives.
Who is Detective Watson?
Scott Watson is a Davidoff-certified cigar sommelier with over thirty years investigating fine cigars. He's the creator of The Detective's Case File and the man behind Noir Cigar. His cases are on file. His standards are high. His recommendations are worth the read.
